Setting Up Mint (23 minutes)

Introduction to CET4861

Lecture Overview

  • In this lecture I introduce VMWare and Linux Mint.  VMWare allows you to run other operating system on your host machine (probably a Windows box, but I won't hold that against you, coming from a Mac guy-- note that Mac OS X is UNIX).

Video:

  • Installing and configuring Mint (Right click and 'Save As ...')
  • Timeline:
    • Download Mint:                 00:00:14
    • Create a VM for Mint:        00:02:12
    • Install VMWare Tools:        00:15:22
    • Creating a shared folder:    00:20:38
    • Creating a snapshot            00:21:28
    • Drag-n-drop demo             00:23:07
